There are many ways to prepare a turkey. The processes I am going to discuss today is grilling a turkey. Grilling is rapidly becoming one of the most received techniques of cooking a wild turkey, not to mention one of the healthiest. Grilling allows the fat to drip as it cooks, keeping the meat nutritious, moist and full of flavor.

When it comes to the grilling alternative, there are many choices. Let's discuss some categories of grills available on the market today. Each has some pros and cons which include differences in preparation, length of time to complete the meal as well as different operating instructions.

Covered Charcoal Grill

Place a pyramid of charcoal to one side of the grill. Light the charcoal and let it get good and hot. Use a thermometer on the food rack to track the temperature of the grill. This will ensure that you get an exact reading of the temperature of the turkey meat throughout the entire cooking process.

Place the turkey in the center of the grill after ensuring that the charcoal has been distributed evenly below. Be sure that the turkey's breast side is up. Add whatever seasoning you would like, then cover the grill. When the temperature of the inner thigh reaches 180 degrees Fahrenheit; your turkey is ready.

Covered Gas Grill

The gas grill can be either propane or natural gas. If your gas grill has only one burner, place a water pan under the grate to create indirect heat. If you have two or more burners, place the turkey away from the flame. You can accomplish this by simply keeping one burner in the off position and placing the turkey there.

You can also roast a turkey by using an oven.

Electric Roaster Oven

Pre-heat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the turkey on the oven rack (some ovens have a rack specifically for the turkey). Be sure to have something in the bottom of the oven to collect the juice and fat from the bird. Let the bird cook until the temperature in the inner thigh reaches 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

Oven Cooking in Bag

This is has to be one of the safest and cleanest methods of roasting a turkey indoors. It is a delicious alternative to the customary means of grilling a turkey.

Pre-heat the oven using to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Coat the inside of the empty bag with a tablespoon of flour. Use a pan large enough that the turkey will be able to sit in the center without touching the edges. Be sure to leave enough space around the bag as it will enlarge while cooking. Insert a thermometer in the thigh of the bird to allow you to determine when it reaches 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you are like most people who enjoy eating wild turkey, you are always seeking alternatives to its preparation. Any of these methods will result in a delicious meal. Take some time to seek out other recipes for meal preparation devoted solely to turkey.
